Rhodium-catalyzed (E)-selective cross-dimerization of terminal alkynes.
Cross-dimerization of various terminal alkynes with different bulky terminal alkynes such as triisopropylsilylacetylene and 1-trimethylsilyloxy-1,1-diphenyl-2-propyne efficiently proceeds in the presence of a rhodium catalyst system to produce the corresponding (E)-enynes with high regio- and stereoselectivity.

A general regioselective rhodium-catalyzed head-to-tail dimerization of terminal alkynes is presented. The presence of a pyridine ligand (py) in a Rh-N-heterocyclic-carbene (NHC) catalytic system not only dramatically switches the chemoselectivity from alkyne cyclotrimerization to dimerization but also enhances the catalytic activity. Several intermediates have been detected in the catalytic pr...
متن کاملE-Selective Semi-Hydrogenation of Alkynes by Heterobimetallic Catalysis.
A unique cooperative H2 activation reaction by heterobimetallic (NHC)M'-MCp(CO)2 complexes (NHC = N-heterocyclic carbene, M' = Cu or Ag, M = Fe or Ru) has been leveraged to develop a catalytic alkyne semi-hydrogenation transformation. The optimal Ag-Ru catalyst gives high selectivity for converting alkynes to E-alkenes, a rare selectivity mode for reduction reactions with H2. The transformation...
متن کاملCatalytic coupling of terminal alkynes with isonitriles promoted by organoactinide complexes.
The coupling reaction of terminal alkynes and tert-butylisonitrile to yield substituted alpha,beta-acetylenic aldimines is catalyzed by the organoactinide neutral complexes Cp*2AnMe2 (Cp* = C5Me5, An = Th, U) and the cationic complex [(Et2N)3U][BPh4]. The reaction proceeds by a 1,1-insertion of the isonitrile into the metal-acetylide bond. Additional insertion products can be obtained by alteri...
متن کاملgem-Selective Cross-Dimerization and Trimerization of Alkynes with Silylacetylenes Promoted by a Rhodium-Pyridine-N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalyst
gem-Selective cross-dimerization and trimerization of silylacetylenes with alkynes via C-H activation using a rhodium(I)-pyridine-Nheterocyclic carbene catalyst have been developed. This protocol is applicable to variety of aliphatic or aromatic terminal alkynes, internal alkynes and gem-1,3-disubsituted enynes to afford the corresponding enynes and dienynes with high regioand stereoselectiviti...
